Goal Summary:
To have students learn for themselves, the power of their individual self. To have them come to the conclusion that we are better off being better to each other. A lofty goal to drag students through the dark pits of their habits, over hot coals of conformity and into the light, realizing how much power a lone individual with a hammock and a notebook can have. My goal is to have a student write a poem about the power of "outside". My goal is to have a student hand me a movie as a gift and say "transcendentalism is the reason these people are so cool". Both of these things have happened. That is why I teach this unit. This is why I teach.
