Students will understand the parts of a story plot (exposition, resolution, setting, characters, falling action, rising action, climax and conflict) and how the plot affects the overall story. Students will understand that setting is the place or location of the action. The setting provides the historical and cultural context for characters. It often can symbolize the emotional state of characters.

Students will understand how plot and setting affect and contribute to the overall theme and mood of a story. Students will understand how to describe and analyze plot and setting
