1) distinguish between accuracy and precision of measurements.
2) understand the SI system as a system based on multiples and divisions of 10.
3) understand the formulation of a derived unit of measurement.
4) understand and use factor label unit conversions.

Students will learn:
1) the metric prefixes, their meanings and their symbols
2) to identify and use the variables and units for mass, volume, length, time, temperature, density, and mass.
3) learn that conversions are a set of equalities between measurement systems.

Skill Goals:

Students will:
1) make measurements of time temp, mass, volume, length.
2) calculate the densities of various substances.
3) calculate percentage error
4) use critical thinking skills to develop experimental / inquiry based procedures.
