Goal Summary:

Rebuilding the state's economic system, paying off debts, opening businesses, and getting farms running again was difficult. A system of share-cropping and tenant farming became entrenched as cotton once again became a prominent crop. One bright spot in SC was the establishment of schools for African Americans as well as a public school system.
