This writing assignment was developed as an assessment piece for the end of a literacy unit on traditions. The assignment is used in an inclusive regular education classroom of 18-20 third graders with varying writing ability. Support is provided in the classroom by a Special Education teacher during Writing Workshop, and also during pull-out service times as needed.

Prep:
Choose a text and pre-read, copy graphic organizers (2), rubric, writing assignment sheet, editing checklist, and final draft paper if needed.
