What Are Cookies? Reflection:
1. not enough time to really practice on each of the materials. next time, show the various methods and materials and work in small groups with students who want to work in the material.
2. one day of materials introduction - short 1 class blending practice. then as noted above have 1 more practice day with the material of choice.
3. do not give students choice in final still life. not enough time to really go into what makes a good still life. After practice in whichever material they choose they will interpret the still life.
4. keep to a better timeline. They dragged this out a bit, but as the due date neared many were scrambling, first few minutes of every class remind them of the timeline. I did offer them to come during academics and many students took that route. 2 days a week is not enough time for some but those kids seemed to understand that and took imitative to come for extra time. Extra time was offered to all, will continue to do this.
5. Material freedom to explore a new material, more encouragement to students who rely on the one they are familiar with to explore a new method or material. Many fell back on what they feel was comfortable. Would like to see more experimentation. new arts standards stress this, will really emphasis this from day 1. always have but time to put more on the experiment.
