Students will respond to reading prompts from the novel Wonder independently as well as in pairs and groups, complete an essay organizer and short essay with evidence and analysis from their reading, acquire more familiarity with grade level vocabulary from the book. Students will take quizzes and complete a t-chart on strengths versus challenges of people with autism, after reading articles at Newsela.com. Students will self-assess progress toward reading level goals using Readtheory. Students will self-assess their social/emotional status and needs as well as make personal connections to the week's reading in a community building circle.
