Goal Summary:
Students will acquire more familiarity with grade level vocabulary. Students will self-assess progress toward reading level goals. Students will make personal connections to reading using online reading of "Quackenstein" and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid graphic novel. Students will tap knowledge and build background to prepare for reading "Quackenstein." Students will listen attentively, and describe or recount key details from the read aloud. Students will identify key details in the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Students will answer the prompt details from text to support their reading responses. Students will write an animal report using grade appropriate sentence structure and spelling. Students will self-assess social/ emotional state and make personal connections to the week's reading in a community building circle.
