Goal Summary:
In this thematic unit students will be developing background knowledge about animals and their habitats. By doing this they will use grade level content vocabulary within the regular classroom setting. Students will be practicing and improving their language skills in the areas of: a) comprehension, b) academic language, c) oral language, and d) written language.
Students will:
Describe similarities and differences in the appearance of animals (e.g., size, shape, body coverings)
Distinguish similarities and differences in how animals grow and behave
Identify major structures of animals (e.g. arms, wings, legs, beaks, claws)
Compare various habitats of animals
