* Students will re-examine group norms, generate a list of appropriate behaviors and agree to follow them for the remainder of the school year.
* Students will read and listen to literature and informational text and explain the differences between stories, dramas, poetry, and literary nonfiction.
* Students will ask and answer questions about texts, retell stories, and identify the main topic and key details in a text in the whole group, small group and independent settings.
* Students will have structured whole and small group discussion about the elements and structure of literature and informational text noting the differences in the information gathered from the pictures and the text.
* Students will write one or more opinion pieces in which they will name a book or topic, state an opinion, supply a reason for an opinion, and supply some sense of closure.
* Students will demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
