Essential Questions:
Why are short stories important to readers? How do the Elements of Literature (plot, characterization, theme, symbol, mood, setting, etc) help the reader understand the meaning of the story? How does the language (words, phrases, sentences, etc) of the story help bring forth its meaning? How can short stories help with improving one's own language and expressing one's thoughts in writing?
Content Goals:
Towards the end of the unit, students should know and understand the significance of each short story read in class. Students should also know and understand the Elements of Literature. Lastly, students should know how to use the English Language within their own writings.
