Over the next four weeks, each of us will read with understanding books, internet sources, and other material about 3 careers in order to choose one career we might like to pursue. We will show our learning by presenting the career of choice to the class and sharing why we chose the career.

How do I decide what I want to be and how do I prepare for my career?
Why do I need a career plan?
How do I communicate this information to post-secondary institutions and employers?
How can we best prepare for the workforce when we will likely change jobs multiple times and perhaps even careers?
How do I decide or make choices?
How do I best communicate?
When should I start planning financially, and how is it best to do so?
Understandings:
Students will demonstrate their understanding of the use of highlighting, text notes, and graphic organizers as reading comprehension strategies.
Students will use five new vocabulary words which relate to career research.
Content Goals:

Skill Goals:
We will demonstrate our learning about reading strategies by submitting samples of texts and self-assessments of our use of strategies.

We will demonstrate our vocabulary learning by using at least 5 unit vocabulary words correctly in our final presentation.

We will demonstrate our learning about careers by presenting the career of choice to the class and sharing why we chose it. We will make connections to at least 3 questions the class wanted to know about the careers.
