Detail
Content Goals:
1. Students will understand the difference between a linear and a exponential function and how to use each type in real world problems.
2. Students will understand the exponential function equation and what each part of the equation means.
3. Students will be able to use the plot of data which produces an exponential growth or decay to solve problems.
4. Students will be able pick between either a linear model or exponential model after looking at the graph of the data, the correlation coefficient, and the residual plot.
5. Students will be able to use the exponential model to predict future events.
Skill Goals:
1. Students will be able to plot bivariate data which is exponential by hand and also with a calculator.
2. Students will be able to use a TI84 to graph data, find the correct model (linear or exponential), find the correlation coefficient, and plot the residual.
3. Students will be able to extrapolate and interpolate from a graph of an exponential function.
