Students will gain the overall basic knowledge needed to care for patients with nutritional needs, using the nursing process to identify, describe, and prioritize information related to nutritional needs. They will learn prevention strategies related to the nutritional needs of adult med-surg patients. They will also learn teaching strategies and communication techniques to use when caring for the adult med-surg patient with nutritional needs.

2. What are some drug-nutrient interactions important for nurses to understand?
3. Why is it important to ask the patient about his/her food preferences? What is the purpose of screening? What types of questions should be covered during a dietary history?
