Ribsy

Subject:
Reading
Topic:
Ribsy - Chapter 6 - Part 2
Objective:
The students will finish a chapter in the book Ribsy. They will work on their reading comprehension skills.
Reflection:
Having come into this classroom when they were already a little more than halfway through the book, I felt unfamiliar with anything that happened prior to chapter 5. As a result, I was nervous about leading this instruction. One of the paraeducators had to remind me that I needed to reflect what had happened after we would go through a page or two of reading aloud. As an aspiring teacher, I should not be in a situation where a paraeducator has to remind me of such things. Going forth, I will be more prepared for this type of lesson. Another issue that I have observed is that most of the students and paraeducators expect me to repeat every single step my cooperating teacher did before me. As a result, I need to remind people that I am a teacher myself and I will do things my own way; while also being open to ideas, suggestions, and criticism.
Prep:
Read chapter prior to instruction.
