What Are Cookies? Students will be able to identify musical instruments used in a piece. Students will use descriptive words, and/or musical terms to describe the tempo and dynamics of 5 selections of music. Students will relate a personal mood/connection to those 5 selections and share with the class.

Prep:
Students will be familiar with the definitions of the musical terms allegro, moderato and andante. Students will be familiar with dynamic terms piano, forte, pianissimo, and fortissimo. Students should be, but can be unfamiliar with, popular western musical instruments.
Materials:
Handout with boxes for instruments, tempo, dynamics and mood with space for 5 selections of music. Computer connected to the internet for use of Youtube. A decent sound system for the students to listen to the music. Beethoven - Symphony 9, Scherzo, Keith Jarrett - The Wind Up, Mozart's Requiem in D minor, Introitus, Keith Jarrett - Radiance III, They might Be Giants - Why Does the Sun Shine (famous live version).
