Objective:
Students will be able to:
1. Come up with their own plan for solving a multi-step trig problem using two angles of depression.
2. Be able to discuss/explain how or why they made various calculations.
3.Use a clinometer to estimate the height of the school and a tall pipe.
4. Use another method (counting bricks, multiplying by brick size) to estimate height of building.
5. Report findings to class, compare groups answers, as a class calculate a reasonable average height. If possible, have students research actual height of building from blueprints, county records, etc.
Prep:
Prepare two clinometers, copy group handout, have tape measures, yardsticks available, hope for decent weather.
