2 Finding the slope of a line graphically

Grade Level:
9
Subject:
Algebra 1a
Topic:
Algebra 1a Finding the slope of linear equations graphically.
Objective:
Students should be able to find the slope of a line that is graphed on a Cartesian coordinate plane.
Reflection:
Students had difficulty keeping x and y straight. They sometimes put run over rise, or subtracted y from x. They seemed to understand but were not consistent in their arithmetic. I thought one day would be enough but more time is needed for them to understand. Hand-eye coordination is a problem for some of the students. They have problems counting the squares and following the lines from the axis to where the point belongs.
Prep:
None entered.
Materials:
Powerpoint presentation, Notes booklet, "Linear Equations", graph paper, ruler.
