To help students brainstorm words and ideas read and discuss poem "Sick" by Shel Silverstein. Talk about the list of things the girl in the poem has wrong with her so she can't go to school. 3. Explain that we will be writing a narrative story about a time we were hurt not sick but to help us get ideas we will need to make a list of ouch words similar to the list in the poem. With students help create a list of ouch words on chart paper.
