My New Lesson

Grade Level:
10
Subject:
Humanities 10
Topic:
Shakespeare's "Othello"-Formal Presentation
Objective:
The overall objective of this unit of study is to provide students the opportunity to study a passage from Shakespeare's "Othello" and present that passage to the rest of the class by reading and acting out the passage.
Reflection:
Many of the student groups presented the passages they selected effectively, while others did not prepare for or perform their selections very well. Those students with strong reading skills and with some acting ability performed well, while those students who had difficulty reading and suffered from stage fright tended to perform poorly.

I have however noticed that the students who initially performed poorly on this presentation have in general been improved in follow up presentations similar to this project.
Prep:
Select student groups, allow them to select a passage from "Othello" that they would like to read/present to the class and give them time to practice their presentation.
Materials:
The main text: "Othello"
