Objective:
Teaching Focus in this chapter is to teach teenagers about the short- and long-term effects of
recreational marijuana usage. These students are about to enter college and may be put in situations
where they are pressured into trying the drug. These students will be able to make decisions based on
their knowledge of the affects of the drug. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the
misconceptions about marijuana use and the real consequences. Students will also understand the
differences between THC and CBD, and the effects of marijuana use on the CNS. Next the student will
learn about the effects of using marijuana on athletic performance in high school and college athletes.
There are also opportunities to learn about the psychological effects of using marijuana, especially in
developing young brains. Finally the students will hear and see the devastating effects of marijuana on
the lungs.
