Bansho Notebook introduction
Eureka math program: Topic A - Lessons in Topic A move students toward understanding familiar repeated addition from Grade 2 in the form of array models, which become a cornerstone of the module. Students use the language of multiplication as they understand what factors are and differentiate between the size of groups and the number of groups within a given context. In this module the factors 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 provide an entry point for moving into more difficult factors in later modules.
Objective:
1. Students will go through the process of setting up their first bansho word problem involving multiplication. They will end the week with a second bansho word problem relating to division.
2. Students will engage in first three lessons from Eureka math program for the week.
Prep:
Type out bansho word problems in Spanish (3 for this week) cut into strips and ready to be distributed for notebooks.
Materials:
Bansho notebook, copies of word problems, math workbooks, manipulative: counters, 12 each person
