What Are Cookies? Students will create a collaged owl using cutting and
sequencing skills, as well as creating patterns, and utilizing
directional vocabulary.

Background – The area or scenery furthest back in the picture (behind the subject).
Collage- The technique of overlapping and gluing multiple pieces of paper together to create a
piece of art.
Pattern– “Elements that repeat”in a reoccurring and regular arrangement.
Directional word (above, below, outside, inside, next to, etc).
Border– An ornamental design around the outside edge of a paper, painting, etc.

Prep:
Cut white drawing paper down to 9”x9” squares. This will be the paper that everything is glued down to.
Cut one of the following pieces of construction paper for each student(cut extra just in case)
o Brown – 5”x6” (then draw a large oval shape on it – use the entire paper)
o Red – 3”x4” (then draw a large oval shape on it – use the entire paper)
o White – 2”x4”
o Yellow – 1.5”x1.5”
o Blue– 3”x3”and 3”x4”
