Review cell transport - including passive and active transport - with a PowerPoint lesson, a demonstration of the process of osmosis using eggs and a lab.
Prep:
Dissolve three egg shells in vinegar - place one in blue coloured water and another in corn syrup, gather triple beam balances (10-12), cut 3x1cm slices of potato/carrot, prepare 6% salt water solution, photocopy enough copies of the student notes, lab sheets and worksheets.
Materials:
Eggs, vinegar, corn syrup, blue food colouring, water, 6% salt water, potatoes/carrots, triple beam balances (10-12), plastic cups, masking tape (for labels), saran wrap
