Subject:
Biology
Topic:
Plant Organs & Their Functions
Objective:
Describe how water and nutrients are transported in plants
Other Information:
SBI3U: Biology, Grade 11-University Preparation
Strand: E. Animals: Structure and Function

Overall Expectations:
E3. demonstrate an understanding of animal anatomy and physiology, and describe disorders of the respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems.

Specific Expecations:
E3.1 explain the anatomy of the respiratory system and the process of ventilation and gas exchange from the environment to the cell (e.g., the movement of oxygen from the atmosphere to the cell; the roles of ventilation, hemoglobin, and diffusion in gas exchange)

E3.3 explain the anatomy of the circulatory system (e.g., blood components, blood vessels, the heart) and its function in transporting substances that are vital to health

c)Story telling has always played a great role in the way people learn skills and concepts, but as we get older we may disregard it as childish and shallow. By reading this article it renewed by view on story telling within teaching. Nothing captivates students like a great story, especially one they can relate to. When you have students place themselves into a lesson they become fully enaged and submerged within the material. The goal of this exercise was to have students become oxygen and take themselves on virtual tour of the human body, explaining the route it takes and the functions it helps with.

D) Students would be encouraged to use storytelling when learning about different physiological concepts as well as other topics they may learn in different classes. (ie: this strengthens verbal and written communication)

E) The Article can be used as an example and guideline to set a standard for what we look for in a written answer.
