Subject:
Grade 12 - Biology (University)
Topic:
Homeostasis, Environmental Education

Success Criteria:

Prep:
The article from Edgar (2007) emphasizes the important connections between a healthy environment, healthy communities and human rights. Within our own country there are significant human rights abuses especially towards Canada's Indigenous peoples as a result of commercial developments that primarily profit private companies at the expense of First Nations communities. The goal of this activity is to build awareness, understanding, and empathy for how social and spiritual problems arise from environmental damage. The activity also encourages students to reflect on how their life would be affected by certain health and environmental issues.
Materials:
Chrome books, chart paper, markers, sheets of white paper, potential articles for students.
