SBI3U - Lesson PLan

Grade Level:
11
Subject:
Science- Biology
Topic:
F. Plants: Anatomy, Growth, and Function
Objective:
To provide the students with a perspective in how plants grow from seedlings to a full adult plant, the anatomy of a plant, and gain understanding in how to grow a plant.
Other Information:
In my opinion, I feel that the following lesson outline suits the reading because from the reading, there was a story about where seeds come from? My goal for my students is that they use their prior knowledge about plant anatomy and terminology from previous lessons and apply it to a written component about their experience on the field trip and their journey in growing their plant. In addition, the combination of the class activity and each student's reflection paper will provide the students with contextual information about how plants grow and where they come from.
Prep:
Ensure students have a strong understanding of plant anatomy, terminology and ability to apply their knowledge to real life situations. This will be met through prior lessons and quizzes before departure to the farmer's market.
Materials:
Optional: notepad and pencil to take notes on field trip. Reflection handout guideline.
