The Interconnectivity of Mammalian Systems

Grade Level:
11
Subject:
Biology
Topic:
The Pathway of Oxygen Throughout the Body
Objective:
The objective of this lesson is to get students in an SBI3C course to understand the structure and function of the respiratory system, by getting them to engage in a story telling activity that allows them to think of themselves as a molecule of oxygen travelling throughout the body and then a molecule of carbon dioxide as it is exiting the body. This lesson also introduces the concepts of interconnectedness between all of the systems throughout a mammalian body. Students will be introduced to the circulatory system and how the respiratory and circulatory systems work together in transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide.
