Objective:

Students will understand the detriment that invasive species cause to native species in an environment. Students will be able to discuss the various ways that an invasive species can enter a new habitat. Human impact in all these scenarios will be stressed, and students will understand that their knowledge of these issues carries the responsibility to see that is used well in the world (Orr, 2004).

Prep:

Make sure there are enough game pieces for students. Game instructions written on a powerpoint. Powerpoint presentation outlining the causes of invasive species- give specific examples, such as the Round Goby. Research what is currently being done to prevent the spread of gobies in Canada.

Per team: 5 fish identification cards, 5 utensils, small coloured cotton balls, plastic cups. Stopwatch, paper
