My New Lesson

Grade Level:
K
Subject:
Math
Topic:
Creating patterns with sponge shape stamps!
Objective:
At the end of this lesson the student should be able to copy and recreate the patterns using 2D shapes such as triangle, circle, square, and rectangle.
Prep:
The preparation for this activity is creating the handmade stamps for the students to use to make the patterns. You use old paper towel or toilet paper rolls as the handle and super glue them to the precut sponge shapes. This creates the stamp! The second preparation for this activity is making the shaped patterns for the students to copy. I believe laminating them would also work best due to the students using paint to create the patterns. It would be easier to clean up and they can be reused for next year.
Materials:
5 different colors of paint
5 plates for paint at each table
Prepared patterns at each table for each student
Premade sponge shape stamps
