Prep:

Most of the prep work will happen at the beginning and ending of clay day. Clay has already been purchased, the boxes to store clay in (to prevent damage or clay being lost), and all other materials are ready to go on the back counter in the room. The teacher will need help from parents to set up the room and clean-up afterwards. Prior to arrival, all materials need to be placed on the table and ready for each student. At the end of the day, the tables needs to be cleaned to remove all clay residue off for the next day.

Materials:

Each student will need a lump of clay, a clay tray, one weaving needle (for score), one fork, water for slip to share, one pencil, and one tooth brush.
Teacher needs behavior charts for classroom management, visual aids for slip and score, and a chart for vocabulary words for instruction.
