By the end of this lesson students will have gained knowledge about the reasons for the population boom that has happened in the last 50 years. They will learn about the relationship between population growth and personal consumption. After, they will discuss the impact of technological development on the exponential growth of the human race.

Prep:
Prep for the activity - prepare number cards and bring a long-enough yarn to form the circle. Also print out the article and photocopy it in order to hand in to students after the activity mentioned earlier.
