For Exploration A, prepare a number line by displaying a 2-yard length of painter’s tape on a board, wall, or chart paper with the sticky side facing out. You may wish to create more than one number line station. If you have to substitute a different type of tape for the painter’s tape, copy a set(s) of fraction cards (standard-notation side) for children to use. Attach index cards labeled 0 and 1 to either end of the number line.
