Objective:
-Students will be introduced to the concepts present in Animal Farm.
-Students will experience and participate in a self-sustaining "government".

Rationale- The novel Animal Farm outlines an attempt to overthrow an oppressive farm owner and take over the farm. The animals through trial and error pass through different phases and forms of government including democracy, socialism, and totalitarianism. Students have gained past experience with these forms of government in past readings and viewings about the holocaust, collectivism and the human condition. This novel and activity will tie all of the strings together.
Prep:
On the board, write down the 5 considerations that should be present in their discussion as they form the new classroom government.
Procedure- What are the class rules and expectations?
