Lesson Plan

Grade Level:
12
Subject:
Basic Aplied Physical Sciences
Topic:
Describe the atomic structure of elements
Objective:
Communicate the basic sub-atomic particles that make up an atom of any element. Read and understand the first 20 elements of the periodic table in the medium of English. Apply knowledge of sub-atomic particles to scientific problems involving a variety of elements.
Other Information:
Lesson plan for low level learners. Construct using blue tac or sticky tac simple atoms i.e. hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron and carbon
Reflection:
Students should be able to count number of protons, electrons and neutrons in any specific atom from the periodic table.

Assess through assigned scientific problems at end of lesson.

Homework/in-class responses should show basic understanding.

Follow-up next lesson before introduction of charge on sub-atomic particles.

Test/quiz on basic atomic structure 2-3 lessons from introduction.
Prep:
blue tac/sticky tac, A3 paper, periodic tables
