Students will be able to discuss the significance of the featured events to the labor movement, the industrialists involved, and the attitude of the American people toward working conditions in the United States.
Reflection:
Inductive reasoning lessons deepen the students' understanding of content, specifically the individuals and events of the Industrial Age. Instead of viewing them on a timeline or separate biographies, students begin to visualize their connected-ness and draw their own conclusions.

The activity require students to develop their inferences and create a hypothesis in a group, which is a valuable research skill. Once they complete the activity, a reflection with use their evidence-gathering skills to verify or modify their hypothesis. Students have practiced working with document based questions this year and can benefit from further inquiry based activities.
