Objective:
Students will identify and analyze figurative language by completing a close read activity.

Students will determine the theme or meaning of "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten by analyzing figurative language and determining the tone of the speaker.

Students will demonstrate their understanding of figurative language, poetic sound devices, and structure by presenting their poems and explaining these elements to their classmates.
