Lesson completed in 2 days. (Discussion took about 3/4 of period, giving an extra day to start working on packet). Return to writing assignment in 3 days, giving opportunity to draft, revise, review. attached to lesson on chapter 6-8
After this lesson, students had a better grasp of what a simile was and how to use it. The writing assessment showed marked improvement of use and understanding of purpose and effect. Many used flashbacks in writing to give depth of understanding and usage .
