What Are Cookies? Prep:
In order to be ready, the teacher will gather all the materials prior to this lesson. The teacher will need the book “My Five Senses, by Aliki”, and a copy of the poem”Naming Parts and Senses Poem”. The teacher will also need chart paper and markers or dry-erase markers to draw the stick figure, construction paper, markers and crayons for the students, glue, scissors, Zip-lock bags, pencils, and long legal paper (for ”My 5 Senses Book”). In addition, the teacher will also need to make copies (ahead of time) of the different worksheets that the students with work with, such as the “child’s face”, “What Can You Hear?”, and “Your Sense of Hearing”. Some of these copies have to be in different colors. Furthermore, the teacher has to pre-cut pictures and words and place them in a Zip-lock bag to have them ready for some students. The teacher will also need a clipboard and a checklist to document observations for student assessments.
