Subject:
Math/Literacy
Topic:
Counting by five through Story telling
Objective:
SWBAT use addition to find the total number of items in a story using arrays with up to five columns and five rows while answering key questions from grade level text such as who, what, where, when, why, and how to use in writing a word problem and equation to match array with an 75% accuracy.
Other Information:
We will be reading A is for Array as a whole group. After the book we will have a whole group discussion about who was in the book, what the book taught us about arrays, where and when it took place, why there is a need for toy storage, and how the array is helpful. After students will return to individual desk to work on making arrays to show arrays of up to five columns and five rows of items from the story. We will work on a word problem as a class. Students will be required to show work through creating an equation. Assessment will be based on equation and finished array. Students will be assessed during conversations for grade level inference of who, what, where, when, why, and how.
