What Are Cookies? Objective:
SWBAT fluently add and subtract within 20 by using mental strategies and will know all sums of two one-digit numbers from memory.
Other Information:
Using the concept, Counting on and Counting Backwards students will use counting bears to help with math. Boxes will be distributed at the start of each lesson and collected at the end by the table leader. Students will use bears to assist him or her in counting if need be. Students will also have use of a white board to help with counting by using tallies.

Prep:
At the beginning of the school year we will go over simple addition and subtraction facts to recap first grade math. Students will have the ability to have whole group number talks for the first six weeks of the school year during morning math to talk about strategies for solving math problems. This lesson will be done a few times over the school year with the difficultly level changing to meet student needs.
