The objective of this lesson plan is to see how many words a student can read per minute and if they can excel and read above that.

Prep:

Select one student to be the listener and one student to be the reader. Using flash cards have the reader place all of the cards they are able to read in a pile on the " Words I Can Read" and all of the words they are not able to read in a pile on the "Words I Need to Practice". The listener is responsible for timing and helping the reader. At the end of the minute count the cards and graph the number of "Words I Can Read" on the Words Per Minute Graph. Repeat this 3-4 times. Reverse the roles of the students every other session.
