Objective:
Today, we are visiting ShopRite in Brookdale, located in Bloomfield, New Jersey. The students will not only utilize $100 to plan a 5-day week of meals for a family of four, they will also be graded on the level of nutrition and innovation they use when choosing items.
Prep:
Last week, students created meal plans for a family of four for a five-day week. They have compiled their grocery lists. Over the weekend, the students collected circulars from the Sunday newspaper for sale items at the local grocery, ShopRite. The Young Consumers Group will be on site to rate students' choices in terms of nutrition, MyPlate.gov, organics, and innovation.
Materials:
One (1) calculator, two (2) #2 pencils, one (1) prepared grocery list to check off items, one (1) clipboard, one (1) manila envelope to hold contents
