Characterization is a technique authors use to reveal qualities about a character in a story. Students will build on their understanding of indirect and direct characterization by making inferences about characters. By making accurate inferences, students will be able to complete a character analysis worksheet. Students will also analyze how dialogue is used to advance the plot of a story.
They will examine how dialogue is written in a novel in order to learn the principles of punctuating dialogue.
