What Are Cookies? Cookies are tiny pieces of information that your browser adds to a special folder on your computer to let certain websites recognize you as you move from page to page within the website, most commonly used to remember login or shopping cart info. The Lesson Builder uses a session cookie to remember you as you browse the website, so that new lessons you create are added to your library and so that your searches can differentiate between your lessons and other teachers' lessons. You can still view lessons without cookies enabled. A small percent of web users choose to disable cookies since some cookies (especially third-party cookies) are used by advertisers to track browsing behavior on other websites. The Lesson Builder doesn't do that.
How Can I Enable First Party Cookies? It varies from browser to browser. Look for an 'options', 'settings', or 'tools' selection on your browser, or perform a web search for how to do it for your specific browser. You can choose to enable all cookies, enable only first party cookies, or add an exception to allow cookies from thelessonbuilder.org.
How Can I Know It's Fixed? When you think you have enabled cookies for this site, refresh the page and this message should disappear. If you still see this message after refreshing the page, cookies are still disabled for this site.

Day 4:
Introduction: Read the book "Shape up!" by D.A. Adler. Learn the "Triangle" song which contains the definitions of four kinds of triangles. Next have students make human geo-board representations of these triangles. After that students can make their own vocabulary cards to refer to later. Do a shirt assessment to see students retention of today's fundamental triangle definitions.
The Objective of Day 1: to recognize and correctly identify equilateral, isosceles , scalene, & right triangles.
California Math Strand: Measurement and Geometry
Assessment: Fill in a short cloze exercise correctly inserting a triangle's name into the correct definition sentence using these four choices: equilateral, isosceles, scalene, & right triangle.
Assessment Rubric: This is a more objective assessment where students can get 100%, 75&, 50%, 25% or 0% of the questions correct. However, it allows the teacher to quickly see which students have understood (or not understood) the four types of triangles studied in this lesson. It does not take up much class time, yet helps the teacher prepare for any re-teaching that may be necessary or not necessary.
Technology Support: Listen to the book "Shape Up!" being read. Teach "Triangle" by watching & listening to it in a YouTube video. Also allow the students to have their own copy of the words to help learn this song. This song explains the definitions of four main triangle types. Reinforce this learning my making a human geo-board using three students and a resistance band which is tied to be continuous.
Strategies for Students with Disabilities & Strategies for ELD Students: I tried to incorporate seeing, hearing, & singing the Triangle song but supplied written words, as well as allowed all students to hear it be performed first and then have them learn the song as a whole group, so these two groups of students do not feel intellectually behind in learning, or singled out in any way. This activity also involved action for kinesthetic learners, ELLs, & ADD/ADHD students may need to actively participate in the small group human geo-board activity. I also wanted students to write out their own vocabulary cards, but had sets copied and available for those students with IEP documentation & use on summative assessment as an accommodation.
